Hytale server performance can change depending on how many players are online and what is happening in game at the time.

One of the moments where servers work the hardest is when new terrain is being generated. This usually happens when players explore new areas of the world. If several players are exploring different areas at the same time, the server may temporarily use more resources to keep everything running smoothly.

#What to Expect Based on How Your Server Is Played

Rather than only thinking about player limits, it can be helpful to think about how your group usually plays on the server.

#More Relaxed Play Sessions

• Small groups playing together
• Exploration happening at a slower pace
• Players spending more time in already explored areas

In these situations, servers generally run smoothly, even on the Copper plan.

#More Active Play Sessions

• Multiple players exploring different areas at the same time
• Longer sessions with constant movement
• Frequent generation of new terrain

During these moments, it is normal for the server to use more memory for a while. Once exploration slows down or players regroup, performance usually settles again. On very active servers, having additional memory (RAM) can help reduce the impact of these busy moments.

#What Happens When a Server Gets Too Busy

If a server becomes very active for longer periods, especially on smaller plans, you may notice a few temporary changes.

This can include:

• Brief lag during gameplay
• Slower world loading when joining
• Longer loading times while exploring new areas

If this level of activity continues for a long time, the server may become unstable or, in some cases, crash. This usually happens when multiple players are exploring different areas and generating new terrain at the same time.

This does not mean anything is wrong. It simply means the server is working harder than usual.

It is normal to experience a bit of lag when first joining a server.

When you connect, the server needs to load and send the world around you, which can briefly affect performance, especially in unexplored areas.

In most cases, this improves automatically once the surrounding world finishes loading.
